In order to set the stage for all three missions, your teams will need a 5 x 8 square grid Wonder League mat with the following specifications:<\/p><ul><li>sized 150 cm x 240 cm (think landscape format)<\/li><li>Y-axis is labeled A-E and X-axis is labeled 1\u20138<\/li><li>Cell A1 is in lower left-hand corner<\/li><li>Dash needs to be able to roll across and not have anything interfere with its wheels (sorry, no shag carpet!)<\/li><\/ul><p>Did know that you can use any of the Wonder League mats from previous years\u200a \u2014 \u200athe dimensions are the same. For those of you in need of a new mat, there are three basic options:<\/p><p><strong>OPTION 1: BUY ONE.<\/strong> Check out this year&#8217;s Wonder League mat at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geyerinstructional.com\/year-10-wonder-league-robotics-competition-grid-mat-150cm-x-240cm\/\">Geyer<\/a>. You\u2019ll need to tell them that you have:<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/0B7rvPRkurns2Z0tIRkxFWXZVNHM?usp=sharing\">a black and white \u201c.eps file\u201d<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/0B7rvPRkurns2Z0tIRkxFWXZVNHM?usp=sharing\">an image that is 165 cm x 255 cm<\/a> (accounts for 7.5-cm border)<\/li><\/ul><p>We recommend printing on 13 oz. vinyl \u200a\u2014 \u200ait will lie flat but can be rolled for storage. Other options for materials include 24 lb. paper (but do consider longevity needs) or foam board (but do consider space constraints).<\/p><p>Or you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makewonder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/WW2024_Mat.pdf\">mat filed designed specifically for this year&#8217;s competition<\/a>! We have even seen a grid drawn in chalk on a sidewalk. She created a two-in-one: a rug for class time and a grid for robot time!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a6239c e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8a6239c\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc6289b exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc6289b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Another floor option is to use painter\u2019s tape to outline square tiles on linoleum floors, and then put the grid letters and numbers along the axes on Post-It notes. Who knew school hallways could be a robot stomping ground!<\/p><p>Many, though, want something that they can move because of lack of space. So you can use a paint pen, Sharpie, or thin painter\u2019s tape for the lines. If you\u2019re using tape, just center it on the measurement hash marks. It\u2019s up to you to decide if you want a border or not.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-400d37d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"400d37d\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bf4b697 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bf4b697\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"copy-wrap\"><p>Another idea is to use a yard stick (in cm), paint pen, and plastic tarp, to create a squared-off border since the tarp isn&#8217;t always quite even on the edges. Then add hash marks to mark 30 cm horizontally and vertically as guides for the grid lines. Last, add A-E on y-axis and 1\u20138 label on x-axis (A1 in lower left-hand corner).<\/p><p>If you want to use painter\u2019s tape for your grid lines, center the tape over any guiding lines or hashmarks.
