Welcome back to our ABC’s and 123’s series!
We’ve created programs for each letter so that your students can save these projects to their My Projects folders, understand how the code works, and then watch Dash trace out the letters using Sketch Kit.
Below are printable PDF’s that include the program codes that students need to add to their Blockly Apps or their accounts in the web version of Blockly.
Check back every Friday for new letters and numbers as we roll out new themes each week!
This week, help Dash spell the words King Cake!
Celebrate the upcoming Mardi Gras holiday by having students teach Dash to spell King Cake!
What is King Cake? King Cake is a sweet pastry, made with yeast and decorated with the traditional colors of a New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration: purple, gold, and green. A special quality of the cake is that a small plastic figure, a fève is baked inside the cake. Whoever finds the fève in their piece of cake wins a prize! They are considered the “King” of the party.
King Cake is not only associated with Mardi Gras. In France, the King Cake is enjoyed on January 6 as part of Epiphany celebrations, and it honors the 3 Kings who visited the baby Jesus on that day.
